Wondered what you guys think as I'm a novice. I have a Fisher 800C that I would like to use with one or the other, I have a 20X50 listening area and have a opportunity to purchase a 81 set of Belles or Hershey 1's , your advise would be greatly appreciated. I currently use a set of DCM QED's. They sound god but always wanted to upgrade..thanks!

Well, the title of your thread said Cornwalls or Belles, the text said Belles or Heresys? I would go with the Belles vs. the Heresys and Cornwalls vs Belles. However, you can't beat the looks of the Belles they just are lacking in the low end IMHO. For full range, it is hard to best the Cornwall.

not much difference in the bass between a Belle and a LaScala, if you add some volume and vent you can achieve 40 Hz. and that' Cornwall territory. Lots of threads in the archive here from members who have gone that way. Best regards Moray James.

Belles all the way. I have Lascalas and had them since new in 1981. I ran em without a sub for 29 years. Not a lot of difference between Lascalas and Belles. Lascalas are a bit taller and deeper, Belles a bit shorter and wider.

IMO, it would be no contest, Belles all the way. For most applications they have the ability to produce plenty of bass. Adding a sub, which I have done within the last year, will get you lower but it's a personal preference thing. Try them for a while, if they dont seem to go low enough, you could always add a sub later.

Definitely not Heresies! Between Cornwalls and Belles, I would easily take the Cornwalls. Belles are bass shy- something you wouldn't expect from such a big box.:sigh: They sound similar to Lascalas- which I don't like either. Cornwalls are another realm and the only Heritage Klipsch that sounds decent in my opinion other than K-horns.

Thanks guys, yes I meant Cornwalls vs Belles...my mistake. I have started to lean toward Cornwalls due to space..Woofers the same as Belles size wise I think. Still love the look of the Belles though...sigh..

If you are looking for a full range sound with plenty of low end and ease of placement, I would opt for the Cornwalls. Size wise, they are very close and both have the same driver compliment. The Belle does have a larger mid horn but the same compression driver. The 15" woofer in the Belle is horn loaded which I think robs alot of the low end response. The 15" woofer on the Cornwall is mounted facing forward, directly to the front baffle which I feel is a much better design. I would hope you could audition both to draw your own conclusions as this is very subjective. Either way, you will have a great pair of speakers!

Forgot to ask, any difference between the Cornwall models ie Cornwall 3's vs older models?

yes there are differences and which one you buy will depend upon your preferences but if you want the recommendation then the CW ll is the best in my book as it has the largest mid horn and that is where all the magic lives. You can upgrade the CW ll to use all ti diaphragms which in my book shoots it far ahead of a CW lll which while having ti diaphragms has the K701 mid horn a real step backwards into the good old days of Klipschdom. Best regards Moray James,.

The mid horns on my Chorus' and Cornwall I's are about the same size. Both are considerably bigger than my forte I's.

Chorus mid horn is a K701. Cornwall's had the K700 for a time then switched I imagine some time before the CW ll to the K600 and now in honor to PWK or just for retro sake they have switched back to the K701 in the CW lll which is imo a mistake. Forte Chorus and Heresy H2 & H3 all use either a K700 or a K701 (same horn metal/resin). Best regards Moray James.

I like the Cornwalls better, owned mine for 33 years. Just now installed Crites new cross overs and they sound like new again. I have jammed them hard for years and all my drivers are still in spec(used ohmn meter) and the stock woofers are still like new.
Both are greatspeakers.......edge to Corns. Last year I added subs and surrounds for HT use and now on some Lp I use the subs too. Big room you may want to add a sub too even with Corns 15". I had mine in huge room years ago and they lost a lot of punch or had to get closer to feel the bass. We moved and now I am in a 7X14 den :music: most days the subs are not on. I Hope you can really listen to both of them and decide.

"CORNS" here. With the room and tweeks on placement, upgrades, and your ears. Either or, You wont go wrong. They're Heritage!
Enjoy, Mike

Own both and would swear by either at any given moment. Clear as mud but a fact.

I do run a sub with the Belles.

I started my Heritage search looking for Cornwalls after seeing a post bragging about all the big bass. I wound up finding La Scalas first and then others before finally landing a nice pair of Cornwalls with all the Crites upgrades. I was so excited when I got them and then I hooked them up and then well, pretty underwhelmed to be honest with you. Tried to live with them for a while and hated the shape of the box (tall, wide and skinny). Finally decided to sell them and they would probably be the last Klipsch speaker I would buy again. I guess some really like them and that's great. They weren't too hard to resell, but I'm glad they are gone. They just didn't have the bass like I expected and the mids were dull in comparison to a solid pair of La Scalas. To each his own, I guess.

Your mid drivers or networks needed to be checked or to be honest your ears..
not slamming you but really Cornwall mids....DULL...:scratch2: I have owned both for over 35 years.. Bass, it's all about the room they are in and where you placed them and the design of the amp you used.. Look for some JBL or Altec and buy a sub.Hope you find a speaker that sounds good to you.
