KM-60/KM-61? Stripped down variant of FM-100b???

I was "window shopping" on E-PREY today and saw a FM-100b with a BIN of 150 Washingtons. I was seriously thinking about it when it dawned on me that my KM-60 looks very similar. So I pulled it out from shelf and did some parts counts on the top and noted the layout. Layout of topside parts and tubes are identical. Tube counts and types are identical, MPX is same, same knob count, etc. Pulled the manuals for both and it looks like the KM-60 is a stripped down variant of the 100b. Fewer parts count in the Front End and IF section. Externally they look the same except for the Signal Strength meter which is horizontal on the KM-60 and Vertical on the 100b. FM-100b has Stereo Beacon Lamp while KM-60/KM-61 has an Eye Tube. Knob operation on the
Left side is different between the two units with the KM-60 having 2 positions per switch while the FM-100b has .4 positions on the outer knob and a pot on the inner knob which from the schematic is a output level pot.


Am I hallucinating from the Oxycodone in my system, or is the KM-60/KM-61 a stripped down variant of the FM-100B?

I didn't have the tube shields on it at the time.

Uh, yeah, you're hallucinating. First of all, the tube count on the KM-60 is 10, not 9 -- and on the FM 100B, the tube count is 12, not 9.

The FM-100B has a third limiter stage, where as the KM-60 has only two.

The FM-100B has muting, which the KM-60 does not.

The FM-100B has automatic stereo switching, where as that function is manual with the KM-60.

You are certainly correct that the KM-60 is basically a striped down FM-100B, both electrically and physically. But the differences between them are significant enough that the factory produced FM-100B still had an edge in the reception of distant signals, stereo signals, and in user comforts.

They increased the Oxy due to the sciatic nerve irritation on the right side post op. And added Neurontin to reduce the inflamation on the nerve. Seems to be working (I can sit up for more than 10 minutes at a time now). Once the nerve irritation is completely resolved, we'll try to titrate down off the Oxy and the Fentanyl patch with a complete stoppage of the pain meds and leave me on Neurontin at a low dose or off the neurontin.

Actually, I'm wrong too..... The KM-60 actually has 11 tubes. I forgot the eye tube!
