Koss CM 1020

New member, getting back into vintage gear. I'm picking up a Marantz 2238B, and a Marantz 6100 TT tomorrow, and have a chance to pick up a pair of Koss 1020's but I am not familiar with Koss speakers. Will the 2238B dive these speakers, as they are larger floor speakers, and are they a good match for my soon to be system.

The switches for the mids and highs are prone to fail on the speakers but they are great sounding speakers !

The 2238 will have no problem pushing them to loud levels.

Go give them an audition, I bet you will like them.
The cabinets were Built by a grandfather clock company in Zeeland Michigan, nice and solid.

Picked everything up yesterday, both sellers were great guys and demo'd everything. The Koss 1020's sounded great to my ears so I picked them up (they were heavy). Super happy with the whole system and cant wait to get it set up in the living room.
 
I bet that is a great sounding system !
I knew that you would like the cm-1020's,
Nice smooth speakers with good highs and just the right amount of bass.

Do the toggle switches work ?

One speaker had issues with the tweeter toggle, the normal setting would just turn it off, but after the guy switched it back and forth to show me it wasn't working properly it started working. The other had a similar issue with the mid switch, but I'm thinking a good cleaning might fix both issues. They still sounded awesome, and look really nice.
 
I am in the middle of remodeling, I own an 1890's house. I will eventually set everything up in the living room, but for now these are the best pics I can get. The receiver I bought from the original owner who still had the manual. The turntable and speakers were purchased from another individual who was quite knowledgeable and refurbed vintage equipment for a local store.

Sweet set-up !

What cart is on the TT ?

I put a Denon DL-110 on a Marantz 6100 last year and I thought it sounded great

Nice score !
 
It has a Shure RXT-4, I'm no expert, but it sounds good to me. My biggest problem is how dusty my records are, they could all use a thourough cleaning.
 
that's going to be a killer system. Those Koss speakers were almost top of the line (the CM 1030 was the top and even BIGGER). They are very efficient and will play all music with authority. Congrats!

Mine are sitting unused because they don’t cope very well with symphony orchestra and they occasionally do strange things with vocal (operatic) stuff. However, they were computer modeled (CM – see what they did there?) to go head to head with the JBL L100 and HPM 100 – that is, they were intended as serious rock speakers and rock they most certainly will.
 
I couldn't be happier with how they sound, but I didn't tell my wife I was buying floor speakers and she is not as happy as I am. They looked ok on CL, looked kind of big in the sellers garage, then looked huge when they were sitting in the entry way. After she heard them I think she is a little less upset, but I had a set of Bose 201's that she thought were going to be the only speakers in the system. She is a very patient and forgiving person.
