KR-5200 DC offset

Hi!

I'm interested in few things:

1. I've measured DC offset on my KR 5200 and got this values
L: 9-ish mV (with slight jumps to 13 mV)
R: 81 mV. :dammit:

How can I correct this values? :scratch2:

2. Can anyone explain the difference between DC offset and bias current. Are they independent or can they be adjusted together, with one pot (or why not)? :dunno:

3. Proud to say, that KR 4200 I gave to my folks has DC offset values of around 8mV on both channels, and it keeps my parents well of they nasty habit of watching television all day.
"I haven't seen these in a while - I'm sure there's no China parts inside" was the comment one guest made about this little old receiver. :music:

4. I dont see many posts about KR-*200 line in here - were they rare, or maybe not valued or what?

Can't help you without a manual or link to one... Do your own reading on the difference between DC-offset and bias...... The info is all here in the search function.
 
Thanks, Echo! This is what I wanted to know. Just one thing - will the bias need to be adjusted after the transistors are changed? Should I change transistors on both channels or just the one with big DC offset voltage?

Well, the schematic says yes, check the bias current after transistor replacement. Just to be sure - should I measure the bias current on Re31 and Re32, and should I adjust it with VRe1 and VRe2?
 
Thanks, I've measured them, it was 17mV and 21mV, so i adjusted them to 10.1mV and 9.8mV. I hope this will help to keep it alive for longer time.
