I recently got my hand on a nice KR-6400. It has nice blue lights and theoretically a very nice tuner, however it is not working...
The previous owner told me that he went somewhere to get a quote in order to fix it. He got the list of not working parts (1 fuse and 2 transistors from the main amp board) but did not asked for the device to be repaired. The parts to change are :
-2SD586A
-2SB616A
-fuse 1.6 A
So I changed the fuse and decided to plug the device in order to know how it sounds. In fact, it sounds "nice" as long as the volume remains extremely low. When the volume gets higher, the sound starts to get cut out. After that, I opened the top tray and had a look at the transistors that need to be changed. To my surprise, it appears that all the transistors pairs from left and right channels have been unsoldered and simply lie around with unconnected legs. The thermal biais have been unsoldered also. In the enclosed picture it is possible to see the unplugged transistors and thermal diode.
My questions are :
- knowing that the transistors from the main amp board have been removed, how is it possible for the device to deliver some juice at the end ?
- Should I try to repair it, even if someone with strange way of doing things already went into ?
Thank you in advance
