Kr 7200 or kr5600...

So I have the opportunity to buy a KR-7200 reciever or just stick with my kr-5600. My question is which option do you think would be wiser. I'm really in a pinch and can't make up my mind on which one would be better. Thanks everyone

Why not have both, compare them over time, and then sell the one you like less.

I regret selling a KR-7200 that I restored several years ago...love the way they look, and performance was pretty good for its era. The 5600 is two generations later.

Both could probably benefit from some restoration, if you want to compare them at their best.

I would love to be able to have both recievers to compare/contrast the two units but unfortunately I'm in college so deciding on one is my option for now..my roommate has a kr-4400 and the build/layout on his unit seems to be more thought out than my 5600 so I'm leaning towards the older 7200.
P.s I'm using a pair of Sansui sp-3500 speakers and a dual cs-521 turntable.

The only other thing I might mention is that you know the condition of your 5600. IAre you sure that the 7200 in same or better condition? Assuming both are in good working order, any differences in performance will be small. It really comes down to which one you like more....neither is significantly better or worse than the other.

My 5600 is functionally sound, but the cosmetics are not great. I'll probably sleep on it for the rest of the week and really listen to my 5600 to see whether it's something I want to pursue or not. Thank you for the advice! This is my first post btw !!

I understand about the cosmetics. And while of course very subjective, I do find the classic early 70's design of the 7200 very attractive....more so than that of the x600 series. But on a tight budget, I might stick with what I know. Minimally, make sure to do a very full and complete demo of the 7200 before buying it...testing all functions.
