Krell Amplifier

Local pickup on a very mint low hour (been in storage for 17 years) Krell FPB 600 that was upgraded to FPB 700cx status. Had the KSA 300S and it is a beast, but this thing is so refined.
Love my Mcintosh SS and Tube amps. This is a different flavor, and it is delicious. It is so choice! Also picked up this cool amp stand.

I had a KSA 300S for a while a few years ago and really wanted to like it but it just wasn't to be. In hindsight, maybe there was something wrong with the unit I had - although it was fully recapped and electrically restored by a renowned Krell expert. The one thing I did learn in owning it was that an amplifier of that size and weight is really difficult to manage.

The FPB 600 is certainly a curiosity. I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying it.

At over 180 pounds, it weighs more than I do!!

I used to wonder why someone would put their amplifier on the floor. Not any more...

My opinion on the KSA S series is they are sterile, for my tastes. I sold it within a few months, also recapped. The FPB to my ears have more refinement. 700 CX midrange and highs are very presented with resolution but no harshness. Maybe they nulled the 5th and higher harmonics.

Also picked up a Krell KPE Reference phono from same owner. Sat in storage for last 17 years.

Tell me about it. I'm getting too old to be carrying these things around lol. And I "was" a competitive power lifter.
