I've seen good reviews for the KRK Rokit series.

KRK makes studio monitors, and these definitely look like monitors. I don't think they (KRK) play in the consumer realm.

ETA: Corian cabinets?

Yep, studio monitors. For their size they get really loud with no breakup.
