Kyocera CD players, how is the quality?

I’ve been looking for a CD player for a while and found a Kyocera da-410cx locally that a guy is willing to let go for $50.

I’m on a pretty tight budget, so $50 for a CD player with some good reviews seems like a solid purchase to me. I’m curious to see what AK knows about these Kyocera CD players? Any experience?

IMO, they're well built and have excellent sound quality. Unfortunately, everything wears out and as much as I like them, none of mine remain working. I can fix most any audio gear, but my luck with CD players is abysmal. They also have quite a lot of adjustments and benefit from a good tune-up to track and sound their best. Note that you can't get that laser series anymore if the detection or laser craps out. If you get the impression I don't think any older CD player is worth $50, you're about right.
 
I bought a used one from the classifieds once. Got it home and it had issues. Only paid $20 for it, so not a big loss. Guess I need to donate it to a thrift? Older cdp are a crapshoot. They can die at any time. I use a Sony cdp x77es as a transport in my main system. Fantastic build quality and has been great so far. Just had to replace a belt. The tray started having issues opening. Hope the laser doesn't die on me for some time as they are not made anymore.
