Kyocera D-801 fast forward + rewind broken. 1) How to replace belt. 2) How to fix FF/RW.

I have a Kyocera D-801, and everything seems to work except for fast forward and rewind. I plan to replace the belt, but first I want to solve the FF/RW disfunction if possible. I have a video of the disfunction attached. Does anyone know how to solve this?



And while I’m here, does anyone know how to replace the belt on this machine? I found a belt online (linked below) and I don’t know how to access it to replace it, any ideas based on the video?

Sankyo double capstan direct drive mechanism, as used in some Nakamichis and other top decks.

The belt should be replaced with an FRSP8.97, but first service the mechanism and measure w&f with the old belt (after cleaning): it might still be excellent.

Remove mechanism, remove backplate (do not harm motor coils), remove flywheels, clean all, lubricate capstan bearings, remove and service cam and reel motors, replace backtension belt (SCY3.2 or SCX3.2), replace idler.

Quite a bit of work, and it requires some experience. In case of doubt give it into the hands of someone competent.
