Kyocera R-851 static noises

Hi, if anyone has any advice about this, I would be greatly appreciative. My knowledge on the subject is still lacking. I have a Kyocera R-851 receiver that I bought new in 1985. Several years ago, it started making static and cracking/popping noises out of the left channel. I recently opened it up and touched different things inside with the handle of a plastic brush. When I touched this one particular transistor (the one with the hole in the images) there was lots more static, cracking/popping noises out the left speaker and then it cleared up. I declared it was fixed and put the cover back on. It was great for a couple of days. Now it's back again. Thanks again for any help.
