Lansing Heritage forums registration problems

Failer

New Member
I have tried to register a bunch of times over the last few months but after my account has been open for a day or so, I keep getting kicked out with messages saying I don’t meet their requirements. Any email sent to their contact address comes back as server failed to accept message.
I didn’t see any requirements other than registration information, am I doing something wrong? I have a new pair of Oracles and I would like to check out the technical information at that site.

You shouldn't need to register to access the data or read posts, only to post in the discussion forums.

I did a little sleuthing, i was able to log in without issue, i haven't logged in there in probably 10 years.

It appears the last person to register there did so on August 3rd, so there may be something going on in the software. I see the trail of another Lansing guru who may be doing some investigating on your behalf after seeing your post. He's a very, decent, and generous fellow active on both LHF and here at AK and may have contact with a mod from that site.

@EarlK are you watching? ;)

There were some comments there about being inundated with new fake (russian?) account requests - may have turned new accounts off for a while?

Correct , this was flagged up , it's beem going on for a while. As far as I can see the hosting has changed. Patience folks , the Admin over there generally gets it right amd provide a priceless resource.

All of the above info is correct ( according to my sources on the inside ).

What this currently translates into is that a prospective LHF member needs sponsorship of sorts from someone who can vouch for them >> all before they're allowed to post ( at least that's my personal take on the situation ) .

FWIW, all the media resources are available for viewing to all guests ( I logged out and was able to view any + all pics ) .

:)

Thanks for posting Earl.

When i saw the OP i think i probably did the same thing you did when you saw it, i logged in and checked out the newest registered member. When i clicked on their profile, i saw that you and i were the only users to do so. ;)

This is true, and I can browse the forums, but I would like to participate. Also, many of the pictures posted in the discussions are not available to non members.

I have also tried unsuccessfully to register at Lansing Heritage with the same problem as the OP. I'm thankful this site is working.

Registration at the LH site does have a very nice "perc" in that they will host your photos (an unlimited #) so you may access them on line for free.

I'm happy to forward the information requested to the LH site,

Yesterday I deleted several hundred, perhaps over a thousand requests to join the Forum. I am sure a handful were legitimate, but there were so many bogus ones, there was no way we could weed through them.

If someone could reach out to this fellow on AK and have him let us know what his Forum membership name will be, I can keep an eye out for that one and set him up. I would do it, but I am not on AK.

My registration was finally accepted at Lansing Heritage. Now I have to decide if I want to go down the Valencia ownership/modification rabbit hole....
