My wife already told me no. I like the part about needing a big truck, and he aint joking.

I emailed him and asked what models he had and what condition, but for a grand the GF would go nuts. Of course I do get paid in a couple of days.

Sounds like a nice collection, but some model numbers, condition, and a pic or two would be helpful. A $1000 seems a bit high, but I suppose it would depend on what he has.

Not mine
Why would 1k seem high for a large truckload of vintage gear? Hell one or two decent pieces would be worth that. Now of course it could all be absolute junk and he needs someone to haul it the dump but I know I would be haulling my happy arse down there to take a peek as soon as he would let me

I wouldn't depending on what he had and what shape it was in. For me its a 2.5 hr drive, but would happily go if it was some nice gear. As of yet he hasn't responded, but I suspect most of it is going to be midfi gear, which may be nice, but not worth the trip. If I lived there, I'd have already been over there to look at what he had.

Yes your most likely right about it being mid fi gear at best and with a 2.5 hr drive wouldndt be worth the dissapointment if there wasnt something nice. He says he has been collecting this gear for decades so most likely he has culled the nicer stuff.

If it's the same collector I bought a few pieces from , a nice guy and knows audio equipment . (Wade)
Not joking about a storage unit full to the brim. Most of the models I thought were of interest to me were the Pioneer Silver face SX 650's, 680's 850's some Sansui G-3500 or 4500s. Don't remember any Blue faced units . Mostly Silver and BPC . It's been picked over for a couple of years .....
Most of it is in pretty good shape .
But the majority looked to me to be from the 80's , The speakers were middle of the road vinyl covered boxes. (Pioneer Fisher Sansui )

He's awful proud ($$$$$) of what there.

Not saying there might not be a hidden treasure somewhere .........
