Launch of worlds biggest model rocket!

This is a great hobbie. I haven't launched in a long time, but I still have alot of rockets around the house. With some motors. Still have 5 rockets from various makers. Largest being around 7 ft. I have posted some pics here before.

When I was in HS.....I made a German V-1 rocket.
As soon as I launched it......it flew vertical, straight as an arrow down the street.
It blew past the Stop Sign.....and right into the kitchen window, of the end house!!
My very disgruntled father, put an end to this budding terrorists new hobby.

Sorry....the correct word is.....horizontal.
And yes, my father made me pay for a new window.
Luckily, the house didn't burn down, and no one was hurt.

I believe that the altitude record for model rockets is 38,000 feet or so.

The technology for this stuff is really interesting. It retains the sizing structure of the old Estees rockets, but they are much bigger. They also load like the solid fuel rockets on the Space Shuttle.

Way cool stuff.... Some guy built a starwars style x wing fighter 1/5th scale I believe. Darn thing not only flew, but was stunning.

Next time the model/remote control toy show shows up, you really should see what these guys are up to now...

On the second video that I posted (youtube), the take-off sound is quite like a jet...quite a powerful rig, I'd say!

I did some amatuer rocketry and the worst mistake was to put the largest engine I could buy into the smallest rocket I could make. Or it could have been to forget to put a hole in a parachute and then chase the rocket for a mile.
