Decided to go with the champagne instead
I decided I didn't like the Pearl color, so I went back to the champagne I used on my last build. I also repainted the PT and the chokes.
Another coat or two, and I can finally start putting components in this thing....

When are you going to finish painting those boxes....don't leave things half ass...
The lousy weather....
really slowed up the paint process. But after a 5 hour bake at 150 degrees, I started putting the components in the chassis.
Here's the iron, laid out, but not secured. I'll do it last, since it makes handling the chassis so much more difficult.
And the first of the fastened components. Once I get all this stuff in, the build should accelerate....:thmbsp:

Looks like you're using Belton for the 8 and 9 pin sockets? I'm using them also in my build and I'm really surprised at how tight those pin holders are. I thought I was going to break my tube getting them in the first time...they are really tight.

Got the last of the hardware in yesterday...
Dennis got a shipment of his RCA jacks and speaker terminals, so he coughed up a set after an appropriate bribe, and I'm finally wiring. So far I'm just setting up the AC and ground wiring, since I've got company coming for a beer soaked weekend....:thmbsp:

sound and perform every bit superior to any exemplary "Rice Rocket" out there!.

statement. Build & Buy American products when and if possible.

Sure are. The 2a3s draw 2.5 amps of filament current each, and the little transformers put out 3, so I knew I needed a pair of them....

Working on the power supply. Got most of it together. Ripple will be down to 100 uV on the 2A3s and less than 10 uV on the 6CL6s....:thmbsp:

Today's progress....
Got the power supply finished except for the last choke, added a line isolation cap, a bleeder resistor, and a bypass cap for the last PS stage. Got all the filaments wired up as well. Gonna bring 'er to Dennis tomorrow for him to take a look....:thmbsp:

Yesterday's progress....
Went over and showed Dennis the progress. He advised changing the AC lines around, which I did. I also added the last choke and completely finished the power supply. Also ran the 300V and 250V lines over to the business section of the amp, and started with the bypass caps (0.22uF Kimbers) and a few of the dropping resistors on the plate side of the tube sockets. I'm OOT this weekend, but I'm hoping to finish this up by this time next week.....:thmbsp:
Went over and showed Dennis the progress. He advised changing the AC lines around, which I did. I also added the last choke and completely finished the power supply. Possibly. That was one question I did forget to ask yesterday. I have everything grounded to the chassis which is then all run to the third/ground connector of my 3 prong plug. I've been thinking about this issue, which hasn't been a problem with the typical 2 prong plugs I've been using previously....:scratch2:

Looking good. If when you're tweaking after the build is complete and you need any odd values, let me know. They'll be gratis but I can't give you a definite date I can send them if it's after April 1.

Sure are. One of the things I'm trying to do is use the best parts I can find on this amp, another lesson learned from Mr. Had....:thmbsp:

..so I'm unwinding with a tasty single malt and a soldering iron....
So here's tonight's progress. I misinterpreted Dennis' suggestion for the bias scheme, so I gotta order another part. :grumpy:...:bash:
Oh well, most of the work around the sockets is finished, other than the missing bias resistor. I guess I'll work on the input s and outputs while I wait....
