Hello all,

Looking for a bit of advice on my Leak Delta 70. On power-up, I’m getting a noticeable thump through the speakers and a spike in DC offset.
I’ve measured the offset across the speaker terminals with a multimeter. It jumps to around +16V when I switch on, then slowly drops over 30–40 seconds to around 0.35V, eventually settling close to zero (sometimes a touch negative). This happens on both channels.
If I leave the speakers switched off during start-up and give it a bit of time before switching them on, I can avoid the thump — but obviously the spike still happens internally.

For context:

I’ve replaced C29 and C32 on both amp boards
Also replaced one of the big blue power caps (originally 64V, now 250V)
The amp was in storage for a while, but it’s been used regularly over the past few months
Sound is excellent, and the amp is very quiet — just this surge at start-up that’s got me wondering.
Is this normal behaviour for the Delta 70, or could something else be going on?

I’ve got no background in electronics, just trying to sort it out myself as there’s no one local who can help (I’m in Bulgaria).
Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

Thanks!
Peter

This is normal behavior for this type of amplifier, it's the sound of the output coupling capacitor charging. Enjoy your vintage Leak amplifier!
