Leaks Stereo 50 rebuild
Finally order parts two weeks ago, started the project on Saturday and completed the rebuild today. This was my first tube rebuild and was a little apprehensive, but it turned out better then I thought. I replaced all the resistors and capacitors. I used Russian PIO K40Y-9 capacitors where possible and the three standees with re-manufactured new stock.
I tried to keep the look the same as original and re-stuffed the two 16/16 can capacitors and pulled the plastic cover off the new 32/32 and painted all three. Not quite an exact match but pretty close.
All I can say is "WOW" it sounds wonderful even with the leak preamp in its original state and don’t know why I waited so long to rebuild it. Here are some pictures. I still have to replace the RCA inputs and binding posts. The amp is pictured with the original tubes I purchased it with.
