led bulb heat?

I have some replacent dial lamps for a reciever..... they are tiny led mounted on small pcb type board. I put a dab of glue on the backs side to mount them... the glue also serves as insulation... but i realized maybe the tiny components i covered generate heat.

Is there any harm in covering the components with hot melt glue?

Very very little heat from a small LED.

BTW Welcome to AK

If the LEDs ever get hot enough (doubtful) they will melt off the glue and liberate themselves to find cooler air. It's a bit like the self-healing feature of a selenium rectifier.

Thanks, when you say the diodes could be damaged i assume you mean from the initial application of hot glue and not subsequent heat/cool cycles or like an overheating scenerio since they are now insulated by glue.

Btw they are installed and lit so hopefully i dodged that bullet.
