Picked up 2 receivers a wee bit ago. Initially, I wanted 1 receiver for son heading to college. Not knowing what kind of response I would get. If the stars aligned I would go for 3. One for each son and one to power computerized music in my home office. Grabbed 2 and as I went for 3rd, my employment status was changed, which shifted my priorities and suddenly my little Sony powered speakers are sounding better. (Not, but I am convincing myself.)
leesonic sent along a very fine Pioneer SC-535. Any blemishes were noted ahead of time and since I know bout nothing about buying used gear, he was most understanding and not trying to maximize profit, but to be fair. It works and sounds lovely. It is clean and gorgeous inside and out.
Blue Shadow sent along a Nikko NA-700 II. It works like a champ and sounds damned nice too.
Both, leesonic and Blue Shadow, blew me away with their packaging. Both used very different methods, but both were very effective. Lack of wiggle room, well insulated to prevent bumps or gouges from reaching the units. Not that I would want to test it, but I think both could have been dropped and not sustained any damage.
Now I have to give a mention to sancho22 who had a good looking Sansui 517. I was going to go hear it, when my situation changed.
I have to say that all 3 were absolute gentleman and communicative and helpful. Whether it is hearing live, photos, information, whatever it was to convince me that their receivers were as claimed. I hope things shift once again and I am back in touch with sancho22.
In the meantime, I will put the 2 out with speakers on Christmas Eve and let the boys sort out who gets which.
Thank you again Blue Shadow and leesonic!
