Good evening AK members, hoping to get some help with a recent thrift store find. Hope this is posted in an appropriate space, apologies if not.
Anyways, I recently picked up this Realistic STA-235. It’s fairly nice looking, clean, and was only $50 which in my area (Northeast USA) doesn’t buy much these days in the audio world.
I have already tried deoxit on the volume sliders with no change. So the problem is that when both sliders are at zero, the left channel is still producing sound. I included a photo to show how much I need to turn up the right channel just to be even with the sound being produced at zero from the left channel. The sound evens out when both sliders reach 3, though by 4 or 5 it’s so loud I’m wondering if that’s an issue as well.
Also, the loudness button has some issues. First off, I have to basically pull out the loudness button a bit for it to click in as it should. Otherwise, it just clicks right back out. Second, when the loudness button does go on, it distorts the left channel. No idea what to even look at for this issue.
Long story short, im in $50 on this. Are these worth attacking either myself or via technician? This wouldn’t be my main receiver but if it’s a fairly simple/cheap fix I’d love to get this in proper working order. Any help is greatly appreciated.
