Overview​


  • Model: BIC/Lux Model 71/2R
  • Origin: A collaboration between British Industries Corp (BIC) and the Japanese audio brand Luxman.
  • Design: Silver aluminum front panel, black glass display area, and wood-grain side casing. [1, 2, 3]

Visible Controls​


  • Volume: Large dual concentric knob for Left and Right channel volume adjustment.
  • Speakers: Toggle switches for Main and Remote speaker selection (labeled Main/Remote/Off).
  • Power: Push-button power switch (On/Off).
  • Headphones: Standard 1/4-inch headphone jack (Phones).
  • Tuning/Presets: Vertical stack of numbered selector knobs (1, 2, 3) with Local/Distant and Manual tuning options.

In the early 70's, BIC imported Garrard turntables, then began importing LUX receivers and amplifiers. The 71/2R and 71/3r were the main receivers. One of the is the same as a FQ900. When BIC lost the Garrard franchise, they purchased VM turntable manufacturer, and began making the BIC turntables.
 
That Lux is a very elegant-looking unit. Thanks also to @sregor for the BIC history! I remember they advertised a lot back then.
 
BTW, the speaker looks like a classic AR3a, which will probably need a lot of work, but they do go for quite a bit.
