Gigantic
A big, big love
Since it's now banned in Hope, let's see your modified Heresies, Cornwalls, La Scalas, K-horns and any other classic Klipsch speakers that you've made your own!
Mine started out as a pair of 1971 H700 Heresy speakers that I rescued from a dumpster after a fire:
Time had not been good to them, nor had spending the past 16 years bouncing around in various garages and carriage houses in the Philly area. I couldn't stand listening to them, but I also couldn't bear thowing them out.
finally, after moving them for the millionth time, I decided to restore them. They got sanded and a fresh coat of paint:
And reassembled as stock, albeit with updated networks:
still, I was less than satisfied. They sounded a lot better, but they were still lacking. Enter my new friend @ClaudeJ1 and his Super Heresy 1.0 mods.
First step is a pair of Eminence Delta Pro 12A woofers:
and temporary MDS backs with 4" ports and uprated terminals, as I didn't want to damage the originals:
so far, so good, the cats approve!
they have all the magic of the original Heresy speakers, incredible clarity and liveliness, but thanks to the woofer and port mods, they also have apartment shaking bass!
it's great, but I'm not done yet! Friday, I'll receive a pair of these, @Daveintn's sMAHL tweeters with B&C DE120 Neodymium drivers:
that's not all! To address the shortcomings of the somewhat crude, 5/8" ply decorator series cabinets, I've decided to make my own boxes to put all the upgraded parts in, then I'll return the original cabs to stock. While, as a master carpenter and cabinet maker, it's certainly well within my skillset to make my own motor boards, it turns out that the ones sold by Crites are actually cheaper than making my own, so that will form the starting point of my new speakers. Stay tuned for the build:
