LG R3800 reciever? Anyone evr heard of it?

I just saw this on our local CL and have never heard of it or even been able to find any info on it. I realize it is probably not a great piece, but I have heard that LG did make some nice mid level stuff in the 70's and early 80's when before they became LG (Gold Star). Just curious if anyone has any info or specs on this.

That exactly what it looks like! So being a Luxman, I am going to assume that this might not be a total piece of crap! he is wanting $60 for it, so I may take a shot at it if it work. Does anyone have any specs on this? I can't read German....but I think I saw it say 30-40 wpc in there somewhere.

Any help would be great.

I was considering jumping on it but dont want to drive to Victoria. I would take the chance at $60. Could be a very nice unit.
 
The money he's asking seems reasonable if there are no major issues. It looks simple enough inside, working on the controls shouldn't be too difficult. No idea about the power output.

I think I'm gonna take a chance on this. $60 isn't to bad....but maybe he'll take $50:D
I'll let you all know what it's like and get some better pic's if I do get it.

More info would be really helpful though...anyone??
 
Nice find. Great combination of can't lose cuz it's a Luxman and rare and unusual.
 
If it needs dial lamps, $40~~

The L&G line isn't very common, and a such, there aren't may pics or info on those. Hope yours is a good working unit, and you can give the community some info on it.

Well I was finally able to meet up with the guy and here it is!! I was happily surprised to find a beautiful wood case and NO scratches ANYWHERE!! It sounded really nice on his small bookshelf Energy's and all of the lights work. Here are a few pics.

Congratulations! You have a rare and very well-sounding unit on your hands. :)

This is identical to the Luxman R-1040 receiver, but with a different case.

50 wpc into 8 ohms. 60 into 4.
 
It must be rare because I can't find anything other then the previously posted link. But if its the same as the R-1040 I am sure there is a lot of info on that! I did read about the L&G line and that it was Luxman's attempt to have a more modern & "Artsy" look to their gear. I am going to enjoy this one for a long time I think.
 
LG mainly was tried to establish in Europe - with a young, outstanding design.
A 100% daughter company of Luxman- The complete receiver line was R3400, R3600, R3800, R4000.
Strangely at the same time Luxman produced some units (I remember a TT), which met the design of the R3600. And this turntable also has been produced under the brandname "Perser" in Italy.

Here you'll find the LG receivers - although its written in German.

Wow...Thats great aileenamegan!!! I wish I could get something like that in English. I haven't been able to find anything on these units...but have a chance to get another that is in perfect working condition for $65!!! They are really sweet....but I'm not sure I need ANOTHER receiver.....:D
 
I have too much gear...I have too much gear...I have too much gear...I have too much gear. Luxman's gonna have to sell for a greatly reduced rate for me to jump! I turned down a Marantz 2220B for $65 locally...Once again, I HAVE TOO MUCH GEAR.
 
Check out this Japanese-market L&G gear -- I would LOVE to get my hands on some of this stuff, it looks AWESOME! :yes:
