Lineartech L-500 Power Amp...Opinions?

Hello all,

I found a Lineartech L-500 Power amp on my local Craigslist. I offered some other audio gear and the guy's interested in trading. I plan on using it with my Denon AVR-3600 to run the front L/R channels with a pair of Snell Type E-IIIs. Before I take the plunge I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this brand and their amps. The amp is rated at 240x2 at 4-ohms but I plan on tuning it with a multimeter to about 150x2. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Good luck. best to leave the Denon equipment set up as factory and not experiment.

I don't know what you want to trade but the Lineartech stuff is just really cheap DJ junk. You'll find zero info on them. I get them in every now and then, not worth repairing and if they do work nobody wants them.

Thanks for the info! I was going to trade a pair of mint Advent NLAs for it but it seems like I would be losing big time on that deal. I don't like the Advents but I'll keep them around and see if I can barter them for something else.

The lineartech L-500 is actually a parasound HCA800ii, and its strange if you look at the powersupply board of the HCA800ii (the toroidal version) you will see thay there are un-populated provisions for vu meter circuts witch are populated on the L-500 version.. so while this is an old post and pretty much pointless to mention by now the lineartech L-500 is not “cheap DJ junk” but it does remain a mystery who is the real HCA-800/L-500???

The L-600 looks very similar. Is it also Parasound?
