FWIW:
I had a Basik with a Linn Akito arm. This table without extreme isolation will make you crazy. If you love pain, have at it. I would suggest strongly to choose something else. I would have a tough time taking another one of these tables even if it were free. There is a very good reason they called it "Basik".
I found owning this table was much like urinating up a rope. :nono: It was an extremely happy day for me when it left to a new home.
Best,
Paul
I appreciate your candor. I hate to admit it, but I find Peter's wife sexy (a god damned cartoon character, now that's sad).
Therefore, I appreciate your animation.
Would you take a Rega 25 over the Linn? I can have the Rega for the same money.
Regards,
Jim

Make sure to read the two replies.
I have a LINN BASIK with the Akito arm and can´t say I have had any problems with it. Sounds good and doesn´t suffer from any isolation issues. I have it setup at the moment on an old marble coffee table in my listening room which has solid stone walls and a 10" concrete floor.
As turntables go it´s , as the name says, basic.
One of the many advantages of living in a 300 year old house
One of the others, which I was reminded of yesterday when the temp outside hit 40 degrees celsius, is that it stays nice and cool inside. Needless to say I spent most yesterday afternoon listening to LPs in the cool of my inner sanctum because it was to damn hot to do anything outside (well, anyway, that´s the excuse I gave to wife ).
I don't get it.
