I purchased a pair and had them in a ~625 square foot open room. I returned them after a month. They have a very substantial bass hump and are rear ported, and with my layout, I wasn't able to get them far enough away from the walls to counteract that. They also drop off pretty hard on the very high end. I always felt that they sounded very boxy, but part of that may have been because the bass was SO substantial that I could never really turn them up as loud as I'd like.
They did image very well, and absolutely excelled with older jazz and blues recordings. They felt like an idealized 60s-70s speaker. If you like speakers from that era, can place them well into the room (probably a full 3 feet ideally), and can't hear much beyond 10 kHz anymore, they might work well for you.
I bought mine from an online retailer, and the return only cost me $10 in return shipping. Can't beat that deal for an in-home trial.
