Little update to my system

gusgranite

let the words flow
Switched out the Musical Fidelity Elektra E11 that I was using as a preamp for a Luxmap TP-117 to add a tuner and control both of my rack and PC systems.
Love the Elektra but the Luxman sounds more controlled and does more.
Added the NSMT Modified Lepai T-Amp and DIY bamboo chopping board single drivers to the desktop.
I also replaced the woofer trim on the Connies (thanks Timarcc at CAM).
Getting there.

Thank you Sirs.

The desktop speakers are made by a very talented and all round top bloke I have got to know in Victoria called Rob. He said he saw that XS Cargo had a sale on bamboo chopping boards so he bought a load up to use as speaker cabinets. The drivers are out of one of the better JVC executive systems (Rob has an amazing collection of small speakers and micro systems). He plugged the speaker baskets with plumbers putty, lined the cabs and put in a nice bass port. I know I am missing a little top and bottom freq's but for desktop speakers they sound great. They blow away the Minimus 7's. One day an upgrade may be to put a high end fullrange driver in them but very happy for now and they look good with my desk and T-amp I think.

Hey, great to see my favorite Bruce Cockburn album on your turntable!

And I'd like to hear both pairs of speakers. Nice stuff!

Bruce is a great guy
Got to talk to him in the late 70's and later on sold him my Bassman amp when he went electric
I need to get more of his CD's

Nice setup!

OK I have to own up I had never heard of Bruce Cockburn... I have been obsessively collecting music since my teens but just very little guitar based music. I was going through my vinyl in my basement and found the Humans album and have no idea where it came from (I have been given a few small collections from friends). My wife said that BC is a Canadian institution and I should stick it on. It's good!

Can't stop...

Just upgraded the SL-5 to an SL-6 plus Ortofon OMP30. I think they have the same mechanics excluding the programmability but the cart is a definitely an upgrade. First impressions very good!

The SL-6 plays a tiny bit slower than the SL-5. Should I be concerned do you think? I guess I should find out which one is playing at the right speed...
