I changed ISP June 1 from ATT "High Speed"? DSL to a local wireless ISP and Vinyl/HiFi engine now blocks me from logging in. Their message says they don't allow logins from cloaking services or VPNs. Anyone else had this problem? How can I get in touch with Vinyl Engine's webmaster since I can't even login. Thanks!

Banned Accounts
Accounts may be banned and/or deleted for a number of reasons.

  • Invalid Name - accounts registered using obscene, misleading or otherwise objectionable usernames may be deleted at our discretion.
  • Invalid Email - accounts registered with email addresses that repeatedly bounce notifications, password reminders etc will be deleted.
  • Disposable Email - accounts must be registered using a valid email address for account recovery. Accounts registered using disposable email addresses are automatically deleted.
  • Spam - posting spam will result in your account being deleted without notice.
  • VPN/Proxy Abuse - if you receive a message telling you that use of VPNs is not permitted and you repeatedly 'hammer' the download server trying to find a VPN that hasn't been banned, your account will be automatically deleted.
  • Country - we reserve the right to withdraw this service from countries with high levels of abuse eg spam. In some circumstances this may include removing all accounts registered from that country.
  • Multiple Accounts - if you have registered more than one account to bypass download limits you may be given a warning, temporarily blocked or your account deleted as appropriate. In this case account deletion is permanent.

Well, looks as though I won't be using HiFi engine any more. Too bad! Been a valuable resource over the years. ATT has basically written off land line customers as evidensed by increasing line drops and slow downs. So Far HiFi/Vinyl Engine has been the only casualty since I changed over. ATT offered U-Verse but where I live the best they could do was .75MB/Sec. Clearly not acceptable.

someone here on AK supposedly tried to open an account and was told that no new signups were being allowed. ? resorted to coming on AK for a copy of a schematic.
user agreement seems to say that logging in under a different ip multiple times deletes the account and bans the ip. would hate not accessing schematics for free.

Ak has NOTHING to do with Vinyl Engine.
Any issues you have are THERE, not here.
But, you are not the first to have issues with their policies or their system.

We have 100Mbps...seems pretty adequate here.

Too bad about VE/HFE difficulties. I find them to be useful sites.

VE and HFE are not the only sites that reject posts from anyone using a VPN.

I've been aware that VE and HFE have a problem with VPN's for a year or so. I don't frequent those sites as much as I used to because of that. If I need a schematic or user manual, I turn off my VPN do what I need to do, exit and restore the VPN.

A few years ago, a medical site that I used for medical supplies was hacked. A hacker got my email address and IP number. Because of that I started getting threatening emails from him. The only way I was able to stop his threats was to use a VPN.

Hold your horses boy's and girls, Jas runs his sites pretty much on his own and as any free service
has a right to do as he pleases. If he chose to offer access to people 1 day a week or only people
with names starting with the letter P so be it.

I've had my own scratch my head moments with him, but hey he can do whatever
he chooses.

Litigation I'll leave that one for another day.

I know there are several posts on problems people have had with HiFi Engine. I've been a member since 2018 and fortunately have not experienced any issues...until now. When I try logging in I get the following message:

Sorry, but an error occurred loading the page.
If you are using a proxy or VPN, please turn it off to continue.
If you are continue to receive an error, you can report the error using the form on the contact page.
Error Code AS 40788

This started several days ago so I thought I'd wait it out. I'm not using a VPM. Still getting this message today so figured I would follow the instructions and use the contact page. Doing that returns this message:

To prevent form submissions by bots, this form is not accessible to IP addresses in Data Centers:
45.3.30.125 (MULTIB-40788)
If you are using a VPN, please turn it off and reload the page to continue.

Wondering if any other AK'ers have had this problem. Nothing has changed on my side; same computer, same internet provider. Maybe it's a jurisdictional issue (I'm located in Canada). It's looking like I've possibly been added to the growing ranks of banned users. I know there are other options out there but this has been my go-to site.
