Lone Altec Model 14 WIW?

Howdy.
I have a single Altec Model 14. Top grille is MIA, and I'm guessing it was flown in a church as there are 4 eye bolts mounted in the back of the speaker. Other than that, it looks like it was extremely well cared for, and sounds fantastic. I've been waiting and hoping, but I'm kinda giving up on the search to find it's long lost sister. I'd rather have the space, and hope to find a nice set of vintage Altecs when I buy my own house.
What is a fair price to sell this for in a local market? I'm in the Atlanta area if that matters, and I would rather not ship.

Welcome to AK, SS! I'd say maybe $450? Someone might want it for a center channel speaker.

(Pricing questions normally go in Dollars and Sense.). There's also an orphan speaker thread in the Bartertown section I think, but to buy or sell there you have to become a subscriber.

I'd BOLO a pair with issues and needing restoration. You could likely end up with enough working components to load a mate, and your only challenge will be making one of the cabinets as nice as the one you already have. Once you have your working pair, sell the leftover bits to recoup some of your cost.

I second the center channel idea. :) I found an Altec 9864A horn loaded 16" dupex, also from a church that was upgrading(sarcasm) to Bose. Of course you also need Altec stereo speakers for everything to blend well.
