Found another MC240 and this one has been gone through by Mr. DeWick himself. Should be in my hands late next week No now I need to hunt down two sets of tubes and perhaps I should send my current 240 to Terry which will make them as close as possible sonically. As for the tubes themselves I'm currently running SED 6L6GC's and RCA NOS gray plate small signal tubes. I might like to try something different but will need two sets but this could get expensive Any suggestions? Below are some pictures provided by the seller. Plus since I've not hooked up one of these as a mono anything I should be aware of?

Wow; that is a lovely MC-240.

Nothing special about setting them up for mono, one thing I did was to get some of those spade adapters as those barrier strips need smaller connectors.

The barrier strip's dividers crack when you stress them with largish cable, or try to install a spade that's too large. You've already got one '240, so you're probably aware of this.

I wonder if octet matched Winged C's are available from anywhere?

I doubt you'll have to go to that length to get the best out of the amps. As long as the bias has been set properly after the rebuild, you'll be good to go.

I'd suggest a focus be put on finding the most reliable and stable tubes available, preferably burned in by someone who specializes in quality tubes. We have a few vendors here at AK. I've relied on Jim McShane for mine and recommend him. Check the banners at the bottom of the page you're reading.

And, congratulations, Don, on a nice new member to your audio family.

Very Nice! Very Nice Indeed!

I wish I had a lot of money and space, I would pick up older gear like this, and have a blast listening to the different pieces.

Don't have lots of money and my listening space is very small and modest. I work very hard to save up and consider my audio gear my "vise" and to that extent I treat myself. I do handyman work on the side and spend a good part of my weekend earning the money I use for my hobbies, audio gear and timepieces. When I see some of the other members audio gear here I often wish I had the money to be on their level. Guess it's all just a matter of perspective.
 
Sweet, there's something about classic gear, you can't explain it to someone but anyone knows it when they see it.

Sort of like seeing a Duesenberg driving by, you may not know a damm thing about it but you know it's something special!

I think you may have misunderstood my post. I wasn't directing the comment, "I wish I had more money.... " at you, or to be like you, in order to get some nice classic tube gear.
I was saying I personally wish I had lots of extra money to buy lots of that kind of gear, the space to store it all, and actually the time to listen to it all. ( maybe when I retire some day)
You have some very nice amps there. My post wasn't meant to be negative toward you in any way. You are and should be, very proud of what you have there.

I know how hard I had to work, and the number of years it took me to get my current audio gear, and I can truly appreciate the hard work you or anyone else puts in to feed our hobbies.

Your right I didn't take you post the way it was intended, that's the trouble with the written word, hard to translate intent unless one is familiar with ones personality. This along with a 14 hour work day equaled a more defensive/emotional post than your reply deserved. In the end I'm sure all would consider themselves hard workers despite ones level of income or size of their bank account.

The seller said the pictures don't do it justice so based on that I can't wait for it to arrive :banana: I was thinking that since it had been recently gone through by Terry DeWick I might try some Gold Lion re-issue KT-66's and some ECC82's & 3's for the small signal tubes (too bad they don't have any 12BH7's) as I've read those that have re-tubes their MC275's liked this combo pretty well :thmbsp:

No not a NAWCC member but I was once pretty active over a some watch forums: WatchUSeek and TimeZone. As for the watches themselved I favor sport watches and currently only have mechanical automatics and currently own:

Dubey & Schaldenbrand
Omega
Grard Perregaux
Mauice Lacroix
Jaeger LeCoultre

I've had many others but the above brands are part of my current rotation. And you?
