I have not got much for awhile, actually I have been selling stuff off. But when I saw these it was a MUST have situation. They have a few minor dings and need a little clean up. Looking forward to a listen.

Oh they are Technics SB-E100

Only Technics I ever owned (and still do) was a second hand 75 watt receiver. Aside from a fidgety tuner section, good stuff.
Never got a chance to hear any of their other equipment.
:lurk:

Cool - Technics put out some crazy big speakers for their TOTL. I have heard some of the other ones, but not that one.

First impression very laid back sound for horns especially compared to my Cornwalls.
However I do believe, in the system I tried them on, I like my JBL L-36 better then these Technics. The Jbl's have a better all around sound. More bass and clearer highs. The Technics do have a nicer midrange I'll give them that and the soundstage is a little wider.
And I really did want to like these more, the cool R2D2 look.

Well I'll have to try these one more time. Perhaps play around with the placement. With the price these command especially over in Europe, I have to give them more then the A-B back to A switcharoo.
I tell ya this really speaks volumes to the "What speakers should I buy?" threads.

Hi tyeeslayer,

I'm just across the river from you, up on the hill by the Abby.

If a pair of those followed me home, I'd could find a way to love them, no matter what.

Spend some more times with them, let your ears adjust over few days. They actually reminded me of the Heresey lls at first glance. A pair went up for sale just today here, I've been resisting going for a sound test all morning. So far I'm doing OK lol.

Those are beauties. Have they been recapped? That might open up the highs more and make everything more coherent.

Another AKer locally had a pair some time ago that were eventually sold. If mine I would open them up and look at the wiring/crossover etc prior to a final verdict.

Yeah, I agree. Give them time. Plus, they probably still need time to open up and shake out the cobwebs after probably 20 years of no play. Very-cool speakers though. They look like they would really benefit being up on a platform or pedestal of some kind. I always liked the look of the models in this series. You're getting quite a stable there. Forgot you had Cornwalls.

Hey I'm in Abby too.

Got 'em hooked up for a good proper listen. Put them in a better position closer to back wall, and I like them better already. A good week should do it, then I will go back to the JBL's and see what happens.
