OK so I needed another reel to reel, well not really, but I got one for Xmas. So this adds 7 to my collection. The Wife is less than thrilled, however the gift came to me via her Brother so she was a good sport ha ha. Anyways its a low-end model the Masterwork M-808 released from Japan in 1968. The amazing thing is it sounds pretty damn good. We set it up last night and my Wife's Brother was surprised at the tone and dynamics. He said it sounded better than a LP and he's a die-hard record lover LOL. So it will be my portable on the run deck. Certainly not anything near the build quality of my Sony TC-755 but still cool. Playing a Ventures 7 1/2 ips pre-record as I type this and it sounds excellent. Such a fun hobby ain't it? :)

Kewl ! A big, honkin' R2R is an absolute MUST for all the Latent Mad Scientist that resides in so many of us "Growed Up" little boys...

In my world a ReVox A 77 is a portable location recorder or an Otari MX 5050 B II in custom travel rack. Your Masterworks machine was most likely built by Nippon Columbia in Japan, who you know better today as Denon.

Yes you are correct the deck was made by Columbia in Japan. I found an old advertisement online from Billboard magazine in 1968. The magazine showed all the decks and record players available from Columbia (Masterwork).
