Looking for a Pre-Amp/tuner to mate with Tannoy HPD's and a Bryston 4B

Any experience?
I have been using a Marantz 1180DC but it has come down with intermittent drop outs and no one can seem to figure out the problem, so I am resurrecting my Bryston 4b, which I think/know the Tannoy HPD's will like as they like Solid State as long as the power is huge so the SS amps don't have to be turned up. (that's my experience)
Looking for a solid pre/tuner under 800 USD.
Input greatly appreciated.

I can't help with a pre/tuner setup, but if you're willing to forgo the tuner, the Audio Research LS3 is a great option. I have had great results mating that to my 4B-ST.

If you look, they can usually be had for under 800. They made a balanced version which sells for around 900. The balanced version has a better sound when you use the balanced outputs as well.
