Looking for a preamp for my Sonic Frontiers SFS-80

Cool. You cannot really go wrong with that one.Did you find a preamp?.

I did (sfl-1), but I may go for an Anthem Pre 1 (pre-amp with built in phono stage) this way I have both a solid state and a tube phono stage to play with.
By the way, how is the phono stage connected to a pre-amp or an integrated amp, is it via the line stage or same phonostage?

Glad you found a preamp.A separate phono stage cannot be plugged into a built in phono stage on a preamp. You must use another input like aux for example.I am using the direct input for one and the tuner input for the other.Cheers

Hi Chubba, I got my Anthem Pre 1 last Saturday from a guy who used to work at Sonic Frontiers, I am a very happy with the purchase. It mated very well with the SFS-80.
The pre1 has 2 outputs, I used the other output to run my Onkyo M504. So I have 1 tube setup and a hybrid on the other. The pre1 phono stage is hard to beat for the price so I will run my TT on this for the time being and will plug the era gold in the next rotation or put it in between the Onkyo chain for a ss flavor.
Picture below.

Looks good in black! (mine is silver)

Done any tube rolling? Swapping the 6922s was enlightening, but not sure I got as much out of the power supply rectifier.

I have not done tube rolling, the previous owner has extensive Sonic Frontiers and Anthem collections, tubes were upgraded to electro-harmonix and was in storage for a long life therefore has a long ways to go. I like it to what it is now, probably will check the mullards in the future. The anodized black matched with my Sansui and Onkyo.
