Looking for a set of Yamaha NS-2000's in the USA?

[Mr. Yamaha]

And willing to spend 6 grand?

Not mine BTW.

Man, that's a lot of money! Is it worth it?

One of the few speakers to have its own Wikipedia entry. Even the Bose 901 doesn't get one of those.

Well that whole "they would be this much today" stuff is misleading at the very least, and the original selling price here in the US was $2,900.00. There are also a lot of pretty far out claims being thrown around in that description as well.
They are very good speakers, but I feel there is a certain brand name "tax" being applied. Not worth $6,000, seems this cat is trying to force economy.

Plus they are re-veneered and thus not original.

In Japan or Russia you can buy a descent pair for around $ 3.000 - $ 4.000 tops. So I think someone is trying to recharge the buyer with the re-veneer costs, the shipment costs from Japan (most likely) and the import duties

I highly recommend ns-1000x. A happy middle ground between ns-1000 and ns-2000. The ns-1000x can usually be had for a 1/3 of the sellers asking price.
