Concept 2QD Parts - Tone Arm Repair or Replacement
First of all, I LOVE THIS SITE! In the past I've only been a guest, but I love reading the posts on various threads and subjects. Which brings me to my current dilemma...
I am the proud second owner of a Concept 2QD turntable. I think I've had the TT since 1980, and it used to be a daily performer until a few years ago. I loaned it to someone (after I bought my current Technics SL-5D TT), and it was returned a couple of years later with not only a missing cartridge, but the wires that connect to the cartridge were broken. Needless to say, I no longer have that friend!
I wanted to put the 2QD TT back in service, and so last year I bought an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge and carried it to what I thought was a reputable audio repair place.
Yeah, they fixed it alright. The idiot connected the right channel only, so only that channel is heard from both speakers. So much for this dealer in GEORGIA. I didnt realize this had happened until a couple of months later after my move from Atlanta to Nashville, and I wanted to use the turntable.
I looked at the tone arm to see if it could be repaired, but it looks like I'll need to replace that part of the tone arm. This guy botched it up pretty good.
Does anyone know where I can take it to in the Nashville area to try to repair the tone arm? OR - does anyone have a 2QD they would be willing to give up for parts (so I can remove that one section of the tone arm) ?
Thanks everyone!
Mike
