Hello everyone, I just purchased a 1950's console that when new had a phonograph, Tape player, and AM/FM radio. The cabinet is in perfect condition for the age and is cleaning up nicely. The phonograph and tape player have been removed. I'm not real upset about that. The radio on the other had is still there and thats what I want to be able bring to life.
I plugged it in last night and it lights up and all looks great. of course there is no sound. No snap, crackle, or pop at all. No sure where to start as far to test the speakers to make sure that side of things are still working.
I took the top back panel off to check the speakers out and everything looks great in there. no chewed or frayed wires at all.
The lower part on the other hand is where it all gets messing. I say messy because there is a lot of dust and that needs to be cleaned. Not sure what I'm looking at. the cord that is use to change the stations needs to be replaced for sure.
I hope this is the place where I can get the help I need to bring this cabinet, at least the radio back to life.
