Looking for help on choosing gear/knowing when to upgrade

No reason to replace both tweeters if the other is fine. I would look to buy single original driver. If you don’t buy a vintage peerless, then you would want to replace them both.

I suspect RTally is right, posting a thread in the speaker forum about refurbishing them will likely garner more responses and advice on the process and driver possibilities. Best of luck.

Also, thanks so much to everyone who posted on this thread! This has been a wealth of knowledge that will no doubt inform my decisions about tweaking my gear now and in the future. For now I think Ill focus on the speakers but looks like I have a lot of other options too!
