Thanks for the ideas. I'll check out the San Jose place.

As for the Sound Well recommendations (not sure if you're local, but the Sound Well was the go-to place for repairs and serviced resale items in my neck of the woods for many years. It's sadly missed)...anyway, yes I've checked out their recommendations. Gene is great and has reasonable rates, but last I checked (a few weeks ago) he had retired, hopefully temporarily, I think due to the COVID situation. Handy's electronics (out of whose storefront the Sound Well operated in its last years) has also now shut down for good. Sign o' the times, all around.
