Looking for Technics SL-1950 help

jimdandy

Receiver or wife - hmm...
I've got a nice little Technics SL-1950 but it's missing the cueing bar (that raises with the cue lever) and the dust cover.

Is E-bay the only place to find these parts?

Outside of these missing pieces, the unit runs nicely so I'd like to get her up to snuff, if I can, without too much money or trouble.

By the cueing bar, do you mean the lever that you flip to raise and lower the arm? Or do you mean the curved piece that actually lifts the arm?

For the headshell, any DJ headshell, like the Stanton works fine. You can find them online. Guitar center also sells them.

I need the curved piece that actally lifts the arm.

Oh -- not the headshell -- I meant the dust cover. Geez, my apologies.

There's a guy selling dust covers, but it would cost more than just discarding the 1950 and buying another tt. For the lift bar, do a google search on Technics parts. Sometimes you get lucky. Otherwise it's ebay or fabricate something yourself.

Yeah -- I don't want to pay more than the TT is worth. The dust cover is secondary to the lift bar. I may have to try and fabricate something. Thanks for the help.

Any photos?

It is possible the very available SL-1200 piece will fit but I will need to see a photo.

If it matches, you can order this part new, and cheap.

As for dust covers, shoot a photo of the hinges too.

Again, it is possible that a Technics SL-1200 dust cover may fit. These can be purchased new for under $40 from KAB USA.

As to the dust cover no a 1200 series won't work, you'll have to keep your eye out for one on ebay. One just sold about a month ago as a parts unit. The table i mean. As to the cuing bar I think the same as the 1200 series so one of those should work. I'm curious as to is your cuing bar missing or is it that it doesn't work. seems weird that it would be missing which if it is missing makes me wonder if there would be other problems with say the tonearm.
