He moved into a new house about 3 years ago with a existing dedicated home theater. The previous owner left behind 2 working Denon AVRs and projector but no speakers. My friend purchased 2 pair of JBL 570s and a SVS PB 2000 sub and other small JBL speakers for a 7.1 system.
All was well until the Denon failed, it lasted about 6 months then the backup Denon AVR also failed.
This is when He purchased the Sony STR-AN1000 all is well with the system and the Sony but he feels he is pushing the Sony near it's limits. With the volume control near maximum to get the audio levels needed to fill the theater and drive the speakers.
He is looking for more power and has looked into a NAD AVR but the price tag is $3000+
Looking for recommendations closer to the $1500 - $2000 range.
