lost my blue and a question

picked up a 1010 in nice cosmetic condition. problem is both the tuning meters are really not blue like every other blue boy i have. it's kind of faded and almost grey with a blue hue. i thought i was just faded, but when i took the front panel off to check the pointer lamp i noticed that the plastic cover is very blue and not faded looking. i'm thinking there are some high powered lamps in there now, maybe led's that are so white it makes the blue look faded? another noticeable problem is the dial does not dim when the dim switch is use, but the indicators do. anyone have any ideas before i state tearing into it?

Suggest you search 1010 dimming switch. It's a complicated and easily FUBAR'ed circuit. Mark the Fixer can walk you thru troubleshooting it, and any repairs.

Sounds like someone has already been in there mucking around with it. I'd inspect the board for any obvious changes, burns (a lot of amps go thru this board), etc. Make a list of changes, etc. Then let Mark help you with it. Echowars may get involved if he's available. These two know PIONEER's like no one else.

Seems the switch is bad. Will require rebuild or replace. The bad color change is probably because the rear of the meter plastic has gotten really yellow, it is what the lamps illuminate. I'll have to live with these problems for a time I guess, i see some budging caps in there that take priority.
