Lost my dog, Sassy, last night...

...During the Fireworks show. Sassy has always been absolutely TERRIFIED of storms, fireworks, loud noises in general. No amount of consoling can soothe her. Well, last night during the town's fireworks show-For a little one-horse town, we put on a BITCHIN' show, Sassy bolted out of the house, & headed for Parts Unknown. She hadn't come back when I left for work this AM, I HOPE she'll come back home today. She's just a "Heinz 57" certified Mutt, prolly the Ugliest Dog you've ever seen, but stiil, she's my dog & I love her. Gomez, the Chihuahua, seemed sad this morning that his big sister was gone.

Sorry to hear that Sassy ran off. Our dogs get pretty unhappy too during the fireworks displays. We'll be praying that she makes it home soon and greets you at the front door when you return.

Wow, Sandy, that really sucks. I hope Sassy (Rhymes with Lassie) Comes Home soon. And I hope she's safe, too.

Hate to hear this Sandy... hope she comes home soon...

Still it's better than what I expected when I first read the thread title! :sigh:

Sorry to hear this Sandy. Do you live in an area where you could post flyers?

Thats a terrible feeling. I had a dog dissapear from our lakehouse in northern WI two days before we had to leave.

My dad found him in the middle of the night right before we left.

I am sure your doggie will come back to you. Shes probabally just freaked out.

Sorry to hear that Sandy!
Try not to worry, like has been mentioned dogs have a strong homing sense. Hope she is waiting for you when you get home :thmbsp:

Hopefully she has a collar with your phone number, name and address on it, so if somebody finds her they know to call you. Both my dogs have that. Of course my dogs don't go past the electric fence, and I don't think the batteries in the collars have worked for a long time.

You might just wander around the area and call her name, you would be surprised how close they might be. My old now dead dog and I had a whistle that I did in three parts. Trooper would hear that and come running. Had to put him down at 17.

God I miss him.

Sendin happy thoughts she is curled up on the porch waitin fer daddy to come home and let her in..................

I hope she will be home when u get there. She was scared so dont be mad at her. I wish you the best luck.

Sandy, I'm hoping - and expecting - that she'll be there waiting for you when you get home.

Sandy, Hope Sassy is waiting for you with a tail a' waggin when you get home! Funny, my dog is good under a gun, but is no fan of fireworks... go figure! Keeping my fingers crossed for you and Sassy!

Had a dog who hated fireworks. He once charged a 20-ball Roman Candle just as dad lit the fuse. Jeep (the water spaniel) grabbed the Roman Candle near its base, pulled it out of the ground, and RETURNED FIRE on all the humans who had been making his evening so miserable. It was a sight I'll never forget (especially my aunts dropping a picnic table like they'd been under fire before).

Sassy's on the porch now, I bet.

Like merrylander says, they have a way of finding home.
Sending good Karma Sassys way...
