I thought I would share this for anyone who faces similar problems and IF its on the bass control knob or treble only I guess i.e those random loud pop sounds which suddenly comes outta now where i.e without touching any controls while you are listening to music
I am currently using the Pioneer A-9 as my primary system. I have never kept it in a showcase or closed rack as I did not have one. Now that is from the year 2013 till present. Allot of dust has gone inside the amp and now it makes those random loud pop sounds since the last six months when its not touched that is. I try to tolerate it but recently I lost it. So i decided to find the problem. I found the issue in the Bass control pot. My volume pots and other pots and switches are fine. To confirm this I have posted a video on youtube where I actually found the issue where the popping sound comes from
NOTE the pop sounds are exact similar sounding but when it occurs on its own it is really loud and the VU meter goes up all the way when it randomly pops without touching anything on the system
What is interesting is that when I removed the bass knob and tried adjusting it just with my bare fingers the pop sound occurred BUT when I put back the bass knob (like how I did in the video) and turned it back and fourth the static pop sound was least heard. It seems like when there is a sort of weight on the knob while you turn it the pop sound is hidden BUT it randomly occurs without touching the system really LOUD. I dont really know what type of controls these are called (as you turn it clicks like u feel the click as you turn the knob) Sorry don't know how to refer to that or whats the name of such clicking pots.
Anyway I tried something like placing the bass knob in such a way it is not clicked .NOW the static sound has never come or returned randomly because of how I have placed the knob. I have a picture to help understand this.
The only question I have is . Is it safe to keep the bass knob in such a position between the clicks ? I have not had a single static pop sound . In fact my system is still ON right now for the past 3 hours and no pop. I dont even really need to adjust the bass. Will this affect something in the system ? the placement is as in the image above picture 1
This is just a temporary solution BTW (in picture 1). I have read many forums here on how to clean all your switches, volumes pots and bass treble pots etc when it comes to these loud static pop sounds on your amplifier. But to be honest I don't want to risk it as I am sure the cleaner I would get would not be appropriate and may cause other or more problems .
