Low-Inductance DIY Hi-Fi Speaker Cables

Yep...I like DIY.
Of course I would love my very superior cables. :)(even if in actuality they were no better performers than zip cord...I MADE them) :)
 
Some people will take any possible opportunity to be a jerk. For the negative folks, please post a set of rules for the rest of us to follow so that we don't offend you in the future.

For me, although sound is the number one priority, asthetics come in a close second. Even if this isn't someone's cup of tea, it might inspire someone to do something they hadn't thought of before. Thanks for sharing.

This site is a treasure. All kinds of goodies. Not just for the audio world but some stuff I have long needed in the amateur radio world. be sure to check out the shrink to fit tubing selections, and types.
 
I say go for it transmaster. They sure look nice. The wooden dowel is an especially nice touch. The zip cord "aficionados" can use whatever they like.
 
And let me say,JFTR,I will absolutely use zip cord and enjoy it. :)
But give me a choice of ugly brown zip cord and lovely blue blacklite reactive translucent zipcord...well you see how that works. ;)
 
Nothing wrong with making your own cable. In fact, I recently made 50 ft. of braided cable using an old outdoor extension chord I found at a thrift store for a couple bucks. Three lengths of 18 gauge copper strand wire braided with a drill and cut into 25 ft. lengths. The sound is great. How much would a similar length of silver wire cost? Would there be an audible difference? Someone who paid many hundreds of dollars for two speaker cables would sure as hell want there to be a difference. He might even think he hears a difference. Many say the difference would be negligible. I feel that as long as the gauge is large enough for the current to pass through efficiently, the amp will be happy, the speakers will be happy and the listener will be happy. Currently, on my Gershmans I'm running doubled-up lengths of 16 gauge, low-inductance speaker wire. Works wonderfully!

You could mark the wooden dowels with हिन्दू केबल ज़िप कॉर्ड which is Hindi for Hindu Cables, Zip Cord. In future years somebody might have these cables and wonder what exotic company made then :naughty:
