Hello all,
I have a Luxman 5L15 in for service, but someone has already worked on it...and cut some wires, fiddled with this and that. A loose screw rolling around in the chassis. A mess. It has a hard short and has blown the main 5A fuse under the chassis. All other fuses are intact, including on the amp boards. Replaced fuse and brought up gently on a dim bulb shows the short is still present. Luckily, the output transistors are all ok and check out, no problem.
So, with more investigation, I see they cut the 2 white wires to the bridge rectifier as they chased the problem. The rectifier checks out fine.
The transformer has been removed and tested...it is TOAST. Shorted output windings.
OPTIONS: Get it re-wound or replace it with something that matches. I have contacted several places that do transformer repair and none want to touch it. They deal in bulk work. Does anyone have a line on a place that can do this work?
The service manual doesn't really exist for this unit. A schematic does, but it is of poor quality as many know. It lacks full info on voltages.
I already tried the Luxman Yahoo forum and no real luck there, surprisingly.
Thanks for any help/guidance.
