Luxman K model help..

I'm looking to match up my Luxman L-100 amp & T-110 tuner with a matching Tape Deck. What model for that period works? Seen the K-117 & 118, are those the correct match?

Thanks!

top of the line electronics from 1976 and Luxman's first cassette decks in 1978, you won't find a cosmetically matching cassette deck. Performance-wise the K-12 would be the one but it is a great 2-head machine and at that price range a 3-head machine might be the thing...enter the K-15. The K-117/118 were later units that look pretty good, more a match for the C-120a, M-120a or L-450/480/580. Earlier than those were the K-8, like the K-118 in looks, vinyl-wrapped cabinet or the K-10 the one under the K-12.

there isn't really one that has the floating faceplate that the L-100/T-110 have. If you want a Luxman cassette deck, look for the best condition you can find as they are good sounding machines.

What are you looking for in the way of a cassette deck? Maybe some more info on your needs will allow some specific recommendations.

Excellent information, thanks! Really just wanting to have a tape deck to complete my set of Amp and Tuner. But as you mention above, there wasn't a matching set since their 1st decks were several years later. I'll check out the K-15 , but I do want the wood/vinyl wrapped cabinets to match.

Not going to get a match. The L/T are rosewood veneer and the cassette decks are rosewood vinyl, some of the best fake wood on gear of that era but it isn't the same as the real wood. The color is more consistent and they look really good. With these wrapped units, the cabinet is around the faceplate, too, not the floating faceplate of the L/T combo but the K-15, a great machine, 900 new is a larger format than the other units and will match the size better, I think.
