Luxman LV-117 similar quality to R-117? Time is as always of the essence!

Huge fan of my luxman l-410, unreal sound blows silver faced 35 wpc vintage pieces away imo in sound stage. A Luxman/Alpine LV-117 just popped up for a decent price locally, it says 110 wpc but I can't find any reviews on its sound. R-117 is a legendary receiver exceeding 160 wpc (crazy) with a great overall sound quality. Are the integrated separates of the same late 80s era good quality? Classic luxman huge balanced soundstage big black background? I welcome your opinions!

I have a Luxman LV-113 I picked up for a song. The manual says 70 wpc @ 8 ohms with 1.4 dB headroom. It is part of my bedroom system. The optical out from an ancient MacBook is connected. The LV-113 is a keeper. I run it several times a week.

I also have an R-115. Similar vintage and power as the LV-113. I use it daily in my office. It is comparable to the LV-113, except the R-115 has no optical inputs. I have done nothing to either unit except DeoxIt on the controls.

If I came across an LV-117, I would pick it up immediately. If you don't want it, let me have dibs on it. :D
 
My R-115 has a remote, but the integrated amps, like my LV-113, do not have remotes. Truly, that is my only complaint with the LV. The volume knob, since there is no remote motor connected to it, is buttery smooth on the LV. Best $25 I ever spent. :biggrin:

The LV-113 specs show an phono input, but the LV-117 does not have one, near as I can tell.

The At Home In The 90s catalog has info on the various Luxmans. I don't know why the LV-113 would have a phone input, but not the next model up. I only use a digital music server, so I have no need for either a phono input or a tuner.

R113, R115 is no R117...Different sound signatures. R117 is Top 5 of 1980's. Now...I would look into LV-109 as the best LV. Luxman used Module boards and this goes unnoticed as can be a Great Buy.

Yeah the Luxman LV 117 is a nice amp.i have owned this amp along with the D-117 disc player and the Le-109 phono amp . The sound is very good .. if 110 watts isn’t enough can pair this with the M-117 a separate amplifier…
I actually returned this for the LV-109 as the internal built quality was substantially different .theLV 117 gives that extra flexibility with a fiber optic input ; preouts ; and remote control. The LV 109 has no remote, preouts or fiber optic input .. ( however the internal built quality is next level) Both of these integrated amps do not come with a phono input . But not a deal breaker because easily can add an external phono stage ..Luxman did at the time provide a remote control system sold separately as well ; one model included a tuner . Such as u-100, f-105 and t-107 with an rc-101 remote eye
