Luxman M-12, C-12 and T-12 stack... What’s fair?

Was at a party yesterday and after talking with a good friends dad we got stereos. He mentioned he had an old system in the basement in the boxes he was looking to clean out. His son didn’t want it because it was “From the 80’s”. He took me down and showed me a complete set of Luxman boxes with a M-12, C-12 Pre amp and I think T-12 tuner. He has all the original paperwork and boxes in very good condition. He asked if I was interested. As he is a good friends dad I want to be fair but also maybe score a deal.

In your opinions what would this set be worth? What would be a fair selling price?

Is the 12 line really that good? The amp leaves a bit to be desired visually but everything else is very “clean looking” from a design standpoint.

The C-12 is a worth about 400 but can get more
The M-12, an 80wpc stereo amp that looks similar to the B-12 a mono 150watt amp is worth about 300
The T-12 is also a 250-300 buck unit, it is that good a tuner.

These are some of Luxman's best gear. Sure the tube preamps would be better but the Laboratory Standard Series, this -12 gear is most excellent.

With the boxes and in great shape, it is worth the ask above from a friend. Anything less and you are getting a very sweet deal. The manuals in plastic bag as new are worth 25+ each, alone.

The amp is cool looking with the front of the amp showing the screened over heat sinks and a lamp under each of the four output transistor escutcheon rings. This stuff exudes quality. The tuner like a rolex with its build.

Steal it for anything less than 700 for a flip. Buy it for 701-1000 and have one sweet 80wpc receiver that will slay any receiver, any receiver.

These have held their value because they are so good and are not frequently found in great shape.

I like the names of the units in the top of them. Staggered on a shelf, you could read what the items are from above. I have the K-12 cassette deck and it is great.

MSRP was 645 for the pre and tuner and 795 for the amp.

So if he offers it for 500 start searching in the cushions of the couch and the floor of the car.
 
Thanks guys. After talking with him it seems someone either clued him in or he did a little research. Wound up at $800 for all 3. So impressive. Immaculate with all the original L stamped transistors, gorgeous Pre amp and Tuner. The tuner is going to be listed for 3 reasons. I haven’t listened to the radio in over 10 years, I don’t have enough room for all 3 pieces and it will help offset the cost and make my wife slightly less annoyed lol.
