Hi all,
I recently got myself a very nice Luxman PD277 in non working condition.
After having performed thorough various pots cleaning, automatic tonearm motion voltages adjustments, I finally got it alive and very well.
It is however a little bit slow to get up to speed, and it doesn't hold it very accurately. Next job will be to replace all electrolytics to bring it back to specs..
But one thing remains a mystery to me: I live in France, wall voltage frequency is 50Hz.
The correct rotation speed (controlled with a 50Hz printed strobe disc and the corresponding iPhone app) is correctly adjusted by using the turntable 60Hz scale and not the 50Hz one!
My other turntable (Micro Seiki DQ43) has no strobe but is quartz locked. It definitely confirmed that the Luxman's 60Hz scale is the one to be used...
The strobe light bulb is a neon and is powered by one of the transformer's secondary. I checked the voltage frequency at 50Hz. WTH??
What do you guys think is happening here?
